The Hunt is On

One of the highlights of our Easter celebration is coloring the eggs and hiding them for the children. There is much excitement and anticipation as they try to find the grand prize egg. The colors of the eggs can remind us of the simple Gospel of Jesus.

Luke 24:1-7

They Didn’t Understand

In spite of the amount of time they spent with Him and the many truths He shared with them, the followers of Jesus didn’t seem to “get” what He was all about, what He was about to do and why He came. His resurrection changed all that.

Stone Throwing in the Church

Scriptures: John 8:1-10;  Leviticus 20:10; Psalm 51:1-3; Revelation 5:1-10

Are you carrying your rock, ready to cast it at those whom you’ve decided are sinners? What does Jesus’ teach us about condemnation and accusations?

Scriptures: Genesis 2:2-3; Matthew 11:28-30; 1 Peter 1:22; Psalm 23:2; Mark 6:32; Galatians 6:9

God’s message is very clear. If creation didn’t crash when God took a “timeout”, neither will our lives. How thin can you spread yourself until you’re no longer there? God doesn’t intend for us to lives our lives at warp speed without rest.

The Gospel and the Three Pigs

Scripture: Matthew 7:24-27

A stable foundation is required when a house is built. In the same way, our lives must be built on solid rock. Jesus taught us not to just hear His words but to do them. He is our foundation, and anything else is sure to fall.

Moving Beyond Prayer as 911

Do you find that your prayers are few and that they usually start with a plea for help? Heaven isn’t a 911 Center. There is so much more to prayer than taking our needs to God. It is a time spent with your best friend – to praise, to give thanks, to confess and to LISTEN.
Scripture: Jonah 1:1-5

Lord, Help me. Please!

Wipe your face; dry your eyes. Just because you fall doesn’t mean you’ve failed. God doesn’t change; God doesn’t have selective hearing. God hears, and He responds.
Scripture: Psalm 40:1-5

Take Out the Garbage

What’s in that bag that you’re dragging around.? Is there a secret box that you’ve hidden away somewhere? Life’s burdens – regrets, shame, anger, depression, loneliness, hurt – weigh us down. The longer we carry them, the heaver they get. We are not meant to carry such burdens. There is a place where the garbage needs to be taken… and left there.
Scripture Matthew 11:28-30

Love Beyond Measure

We have many measuring tools in our kitchens and workshops. We keep track of time with our clocks and watches. But are any tools or gadgets adequate to measure the love of God?

Scripture: John 3:16

What I Like About my Job as a Christian

Employment offers many benefits, but what about one who is in service to the Lord? We all are familiar with the retirement plan awaiting the Christian, but what other benefits do we enjoy?

Scripture:  II Timothy 4:1-9
